Tutorial: Linen Hanging Heart

Hello Giovanna today with the last post for this month full of love!
A while ago a friend of mine gave me a roll of heavy cotton, that looks like a lot like linen, so I used it to make a hanging heart, using stamps, paper and the brilliant shades of the Cottage paints: Spring is in the air..... Follow me in this step by step, it is super easy to make!

Trace and cut out the heart shape from the fabric
Paint just the in the middle with gesso
Paint some strips using the Cottage paints, blending them together. Give a second coat until you are happy with the result, let it dry
Put a small amount of acrylic paint on the desktop and using a brayer roll the paint on the background stamps. Stamp randomly.
Cut out some elements from the paper pad and glue them to the heart, along with the stamped sentiment.
Glue the heart to a piece of heavy cardstock and cut it out.

Love Hearts

It is Cec here and today I am bringing you a card that is really clean and simple, which is a change from my usually shabby style.  I think this would make a great Valentine card for a fellow.

I started by using some Red Geranium Archival Ink and the dots stamp from the Tasty Textures set to stamp randomly on a panel of white card stock.

Next I dabbed some Silver and Gold Luscious around the stamping.

I used an old heart stencil to draw and then fussy cut a red and a brown heart from each of the Damaged Damask and Damaged Dots 12"x12" paper sets.  I also cut one brown heart from a Tim Holtz pad called Shattered Kraft Core and then took a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen to the edge of each heart.

To assemble my card, I printed my stamped panel with the word "love" using the print feature in my Cameo.  I mounted that panel on a panel of brown card stock and adhered them to my card blank.  Then I added all my hearts in a wonky row and topped the first one with a red button from my stash and a bow made from burlap string.

This was such a departure for me but I had so much fun seeing it come together with very little effort.

Write Soon

Hello Everyone and Welcome!

Today Ksenija is here, and I am happy to share with you a new project as a part of February inspiration from International DT.

And again I am demonstrating use of Tiny Backgrounds stamps set in combination with other sets by IndigoBlu.

I started with stamping down the silhouette of the grass from Butterfly Collector set in Black Soot Distress ink, covering the impression with transparent embossing powder and heat setting the image.

I masked off the edges of the card panel with a masking tape, deliberately adhering small pieces of the tape to have uneven edges.

Then I slightly sponged a mix of Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress inks.

Having removed the masking tape, I stamped down one of the stamps from Tiny Backgrounds set. I made three impressions in different Distress inks to create an ombre effect - Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple.

To assemble the card I heat embossed part of the sentiment from Take the Time stamp set on a black card stock stripe, cut it in two and adhered stripes with a foam tape for additional dimension. The finished panel I glued to a black card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope, you enjoy this card and you will play with Tiny Backgrounds set during this weekend.

Industrial Valentine

Today we have Brand Ambassador Louise Withers sharing a valentine project with us.

1, Emboss card using industrial folders, I used 4 different ones. Cut them into shapes
and arrange on a large tag, in a mosaic pattern. Do the same with a half heart shape.

2. Paint everything with white gesso, when dry spray or dry brush with black gesso, but
don't totally cover the tag.

3. Then dry brush with bonfire, then coco, then black, then teal. Keep building up the
layers.

4. When happy rub over with a graphite stick or pencil to bring out all the textures.

5. For the heart use postbox, teal, choc and black and repeat with graphite.

6. Stamp splat then emboss.

7. Place heart where you want it and draw round it. Use this to help you cut the mesh.

8. Paint mesh with coco and bonfire, cut out heart shape but leave attached at one point
and fold it out. I also added puff paint too.

9. Stick down the heart, place the mesh over the whole tag and I've folded over the top
and bottom to attach it.

February 2017 Challenge Reminder - Love is All you need

Good morning,

Today is reminder day for the current challenge, and we are feeling the love!

Some of our Top 3 from last month have created some fab pieces and join us as Guest Designer's this month.

First up it's Lyn:

Lyn had this to say: I feel priveledged to have been invited to do an inspiration piece and hope I don't let the side down. The stamps I have used are the lovely Mr Darcy plate,  and the Flutterby Dinkie. The roof of the house is kraft card stamped with the Harlequin background and edged with indigo blu washi tape. The house is distressed very slightly with walnut ink distress ink.

Isn't this a fab make by Lyn!  Lyn doesn't have a blog but she would love it if you wanted to leave comments with us here.

Next we have Lisa:

Lisa said: I was delighted to make the top three design selection and hope my take on the February challenge will inspire some romantic entries! X'

Love how Lisa has used IndigoBlu paper's but cut into a heart shape for this canvas, and the colours are so vibrant!  You can see how she made it here, hop across and leave some love if you can.

And next we have Shelagh:

Shelagh said: I'm delighted to be chosen in the Top 3 again for IndigoBlu. You can check out Shelagh's design on her blog here.

And some of our Design Team wanted to join in, I just love these!

Aren't these brilliant!

I hope you can join us in the challenge, there is still a week to go.  Hop across to the main blog to see prizes, and how to enter, or you can enter with us HERE
